Oxygen Candle (Rescueair)
The concept of an Oxygen Candle was developed by the military to provide oxygen for personnel in submarines.

The unit has been installed in refuge stations at mines. It provides a ready source of breathable oxygen. The canister is small, lightweight, portable, and extremely durable. Each candle is self-contained and weighs only 15kg.

The unit is sealed in a stainless steel enclosure with a manufacturer’s warranty of 10 years. When activated it generates 2900L of 99% pure oxygen within 30-45 minutes, which equates to 100 man-hours of oxygen.

It can be located in self-rescuer changeover stations to allow personnel to breathe pure generated oxygen and explore their options for escape before donning “cached” escape rescuers.

Personal Carbon Dioxide Scrubbing Mask (Dioxscrub-P)
This unit is designed to compliment the Oxygen Candle.

It enables entrapped miners, who are awaiting rescue in a sealed area, to prevent being exposed to the build up of expired carbon dioxide. The unit features a mask with an inhalation valve and a detachable carbon dioxide scrubbing cartridge through which the wearer exhales. The wearer’s breath is then cleansed to conserve the oxygen. The cartridge is effective for removing carbon dioxide for three (3) hours.
