Austdac I.S. 12 Volt Battery Type 14/LA/5 (Brochure No: 03-226-35)

This unit consists of an I.S. Battery Type 14/LA/5 (part number BATT002) which would be used to give a 12 volt I.S. output.

The battery is available with various input/output connector/terminal block and timer options.

General Description
The Austdac 14/LA/5 battery has been designed to provide battery backup for equipment that operates from a nominal 12 volt supply and has a maximum current drain of one ampere. The 14/LA/5 battery has a built in charger that will charge the battery and support a load of up to one ampere. This eliminates the need for surface charging the battery.

The battery uses the latest lead acid technology to provide the highest capacity to weight ratio without the troublesome memory effect exhibited by nickel cadmium batteries.

The battery has a built in display to provide users’ with the following important battery parameters:
    Output (load) voltage
    Output (load) current
    Input (charge) voltage

    Battery voltage
    Battery current
    Battery capacity (fuel gauge)

Each of the above parameters can be selected for display by the display select button.

The 14/LA/5 is also fitted with an optional timer that will disconnect the load after a predefined time period of standby. A front panel mounted push button can be used to reset the timer and provide load power for another time period. This timer can be disabled if not required.

Physical Description

The 14/LA/5 battery is housed within a white powder coated mild steel enclosure, with carry handle and mounting/fixing holes, measuring only 285mm H x 160mm D x 160mm W.

The actual battery cells are potted within an inner sealed enclosure to maintain I.S. properties. This inner enclosure should never be opened in a hazardous area. The outer enclosure may be opened to facilitate wiring and configuration of the battery.

All indications are visible from the front panel and all controls are accessible from the front panel as well.

The two sides and rear of the outer enclosure may be used for cable gland entry or the mounting of connectors etc.

A Users Manual, document number 061-24-12, is available on request.
