Belt
fires are a major hazard in underground conveyors, and early
detection is critical.
It
has been well documented that Co Sensors alone are not sufficient
in the early warning of belt fires. A report on Fire Detection
on Belts indicated that a combination of Smoke and Co Sensor
and the addition of temperature (optional) give the best
detection for any such early warning of fires in underground
situations. The full report on Fire Detection on Belts
is provided at the bottom of this page.
There
is now available a fire detector which senses product
of combustion and gives an indication of when set
levels are detected.
This
device is non I.S. and runs off 24 volts. The Co section
has a 4-20mA output, and the smoke has a warning and trip
relay output with adjustable sensitivity settings to suit
most applications. These devices are also available as stand
alone units if required.
The
Sensors are available as a combined fire detection system
or separate Co and Smoke Sensors.
